Like many Sony audio products the WH-CH-510’s headphones have a clean, simple, understated design. They have a pleasing unfussy ergonomic aesthetic.
The playback control buttons around the ear cups have subtle 3-D detailing so your fingers can easily register what they are.
The ear cups swivel neatly into a flat position, although they don’t fold in on themselves like some other models.
The audio quality of the Sony WH-CH510’s is pretty good for the price. There is a decent range from high to low frequencies. The sound feels rich, clear and sharp which is more than ample for most people. Admittedly though, if I’m being picky, I did feel there was a lack of depth in the bass.
The build quality of the WH-CH510’s is reasonable given the price. There shouldn’t be any worries if you take good care of them. Personally, I’d recommend getting a case for them, especially for holidays. With non-folding ear cups they won’t last long thrown into the bottom of a rucksack. 🙂
I found the headphones very comfortable, which is somewhat surprising given that the headband isn’t padded. Their lack of padding is made up for by the lack of weight. The WH-CH510’s are impressively lightweight, which makes wearing them for long periods of time a pleasant experience.
The Sony WH-CH510 headphones have an impressive battery life of ‘up to 35 hours’, which given my tests, I’d agree is very likely. They also have a Quick Charge feature that gives you 90 minutes of playback from 10 minutes of charging.
The playback buttons are intuitively positioned and work seemlessly. Device pairing is quick and easy. Making hands-free calls is also a nice bonus feature that works well.
If you’re looking for a simple, no-nonsense pair of wireless headphones with a clean unfussy design then I would say the WH-CH510’s are a worth consideration.
