Cowin SE7 Noise Cancelling Over-Ear Headphones Review

Design

The design of the Cowin SE7 is, in my eyes, one of the best on the market. The overall shape is sharp-edged and contemporary plus the oval cups are not too broad or bulky. I love the subtle branding and the reflective disc accent is distinctive and memorable.

On top of all this the SE7s fold up fully for compact transportation and is available in six different colours. What’s not to like?

Audio Performance

The audio performance is great. You’d be hard pushed to tell the difference between these are much more expensive brands.

With AptX technology, audio lag and synchronisation issues are a thing of the past.

The noise cancellation works well, particularly with lower frequency sounds like car engines, trains, traffic noise etc. Perhaps the only noticeable downside to this is a slight lack of depth in the bass with the Active Noise Cancelling turned on. Whilst this might sound a bit disappointing, it’s a common compromise with ANC headphones.

Build Quality

The Cowin SE7s feel very durable and well made. They’ve certainly got that premium feel without the premium price.

With an 18 month warranty it certainly proves that the brand stand by their products.

Comfort

The protein ear pads are nice and squishy and didn’t cause me any problems. The headband doesn’t clamp around your head which is great for longer listening sessions, but perhaps not ideal for intense running or workout sessions.

Functionality

The Cowin SE7 headphones work well and intuitively like a lot of similar headphones on the market.

Whilst some people may have wanted features like voice assistant, or attention controls, other are just looking for a decent set of noise cancelling headphones without the unnecessary bells and whistles. If you’re one of the latter, then the SE7s are a superb choice.
